This has been the best show i have so far got to experience, the role of Mercutio is mine and i could not be happier, as an upcoming actress i aspire to tackle strong male roles that female actresses have yet had the chance to do... but i did!
Stage Combat
Within this production R&J (Romeo and Juliet) i got to have first-hand workshops and experience stage combat, the one different push that we Nexus put on our extreme battle to the death between Mercutio and Tybalt is that we done a lot of lifts which included real contact and not just staged. Our last performance of R&J me and my stage combat partner Ryan ended up headbutting each other causing both of us to be unconscious on stage, mid performance we woke and looked at each other and it felt like a miracle to be able to continue the performance with none of the audience members knowing we had just knocked each other out, Haha such a thrilling experience!!
